Compostable Paper Straws
Compostable Paper Straw Guidelines:
To be considered compostable, a paper straw must decompose by 90% within 180 days. It can still be deemed compostable even if the adhesive used does not decompose, provided that the adhesive constitutes no more than 5% of the straw's total dry mass. For a straw to be officially recognized as compostable, it must comply with specific standards: ASTM D6868-17 in North America and EN13432 in the European Union. This certification is provided by third-party organizations.
